I have a hazy memory that I chose XML for exchanging data because Filemaker didn&#039;t escape quotation marks and commas and things when exporting CSV.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;How interesting - I&#039;m also just embarking on converting some legacy FMP stuff to django - how far along are you.  I&#039;m curious to see how I&#039;ll replace relations based on complex calculated keys.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;As far as data migration, I figured I&#039;d go with CSV for most of it, and if I need to get fancy, I&#039;d use appscript and let it handle the conversion of field types to python types.&lt;/p&gt;
